Finding Real Healthy Foods Is Not That Difficult

In a world filled with un healthy foods it can be difficult to find good tasting, yet health recipes. When I visit some of the most well-known recipe websites, I see menu items that look healthy, but after reading ingredients find they are not. I’ve found it takes a bit of work, but finding real healthy recipes online is not as hard as you’d think. First, forget the large sites that come up every time you search a certain food item or meal. Instead research an eating or diet plan you’d like to try. Find niche websites that are just catering to this specific plan. Using this technique you’re more likely to find someone who has written recipes specific for your chosen eating plan.

One plan I found when researching healthy foods was a macrobiotic diet. Eating a macrobiotic diet offers a mostly vegan meal plan with some exceptions. You are allowed a certain amount of fish and seafood, beans and rice and vegetables as well. Making up most of the diet is whole grains and rice. Below is a couple of recipes for a macrobiotic diet. These offer a balanced daily meal plan using all fresh ingredients.

Rice Recipe:

Ingredients:

◾1 cup fresh corn
◾3.5 cups water
◾1 tbsp. sea salt

Directions:

Using a small pot boil corn for about 2 to 3 minutes. Corn can be frozen or fresh cut from cob. Once done, rain water and set aside. Using a medium size pot boil water with sea salt. Once boiling add rice. Continue to cook rice for 35 to 45 minutes over medium/high heat. Drain any access water if it exists and toss rice together with corn.

Soup Recipe:

Ingredients:

◾3 cups water
◾3/4 onion
◾1 carrot
◾3tsp. yellow miso paste
◾1/4 cup watercress
◾1/4 cup Chinese cabbage
◾1/8 cup chopped parsley
◾Dash of ginger to taste

Directions:

Place water into a medium pot and bring to boil. Combine chopped carrot, onion, watercress and cabbage into boiling water. Simmer low for 8-10 minutes. Add ginger half way through simmer. Using a separate bowl, mix yellow miso paste with about ½ cup water to dilute. Just before serving combine soup with miso paste mixture. Add parsley to garnish.

Seafood Recipe:

Main Dish Ingredients:

◾2 fillets of White fish
◾4 small carrots
◾1/2 cup of peas
◾2 cups of chopped broccoli
◾1/4 cup fresh dill (chopped fine)
◾1/2 tbsp. Japanese soy sauce (shoyu)
◾1 tbsp. sesame seeds
◾3 cup approx. water total
◾sea salt

Directions:

Using a covered large frying pan cook fish fillets in ½ cup water with fresh dill and sea salt. Be careful not to burn and flip often. Add soy sauce and continue cooking 2 to 3 minutes. Make sure fish is cooked thoroughly.

Combine remaining water carrots, peas and broccoli into a separate medium size pot. Boil quickly for a couple minutes. Remove from heat and drain water.

In a separate bowl mix together lime, lemon juices and water to create sauce. Pour sauce over veggies and fish and top with optional sesame seeds. Sever warm. (Always make sure fish is cooked thoroughly.)
